Traditions

My family's tradions that all the family enjoys every year are many. I will put down a few of these traditions which when i grow up and have a family of my own, I will pass it on to my children.

Christmas:

Christmas means a lot to my family. The first thing that we do is to get all the Christmas presents ready for our close relatives and best friends. We usually vist them and give them their presents. The other thing that we do during this period is to send our Christmas cards to our distant friends.
Before the begining of December we decorate our house and put up the Christmas tree and decorate it.
My mum and I we start preparing the christmas cookies (kourabiedes and melomakarona). We also make a traditional Christmas fruit cake.
On Christmas day my mum prepares a traditional  Christmas lunch with roast turkey and potatoes. My grandparents also come for lunch on  Christmas day.
After dinner we cut the Vasilipitta which is a cake in which there is a gold coin. We cut the cake in pieces , one for every person present and also one piece for Lucky , our dog. The one who gets the coin is the lucky person of the year.
I forgot to tell you that first thing that we do on  christmas day, when we all wake up is to open our presents.

Easter:

On Easter week my mum invites some of her friends over to our house and they all make (Flaounes) a traditional Easter sweet made with pastry and graded cheese(special). Some friends of mine come over and help my mum and the others. We do our own cookies.
We also prepare the Easter eggs. We boil the eggs and paint them with lots of different colours. My favourite colour is yellow.
On Saturday before Easter all the family go to church and with our candles we take home the ''Holy Light'' to guide us for the rest of the year. In the evening we have a special soup the mummy makes with eggs and rice ( magiritsa ).
On Easter day we have friends  coming over and we have our easter dinner of roast lamb and potatoes and vegetables. After dinner we break the eggs and we have a bet on who is going to win and be the lucky person of the year, sometimes i win.

Vienna is the capital of Austria, and it lies in the eastern side of Austria, close to Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic.
It is my favourite place because there are nice people there and it is very clean and tidy. There are very nice bulidings in Vienna especially the Opera house. Everywhere on the streets there are musicians playing their instruments so people can be entertained. I love  horses too much so in Vienna i have the opportunity to go and ride horse carrigaes and vist the famous Lipizzaner horses. The food is Perfecto and you have to try their snitzhel and their chocolate cake called Sachertorte.
